Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using any application published by Max Royen Studio ("we", "us", "our") — operated by Hassan Tahir — you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use our apps.

These Terms apply to all apps published under the Max Royen Studio name, including Safe Vault (com.hassantahir.safevault).

2. License Grant

Upon downloading Safe Vault from the Google Play Store, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the free version of the app on Android devices that you own or control, for your personal, non-commercial use, in accordance with these Terms.

If you purchase the optional premium unlock through an in-app purchase, we additionally grant you a license to access and use the premium features included in that purchase. This premium license is tied to your Google Play account and remains valid for as long as Google Play maintains your purchase record.

You may not:

• Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the app.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app, except as permitted by applicable law.
• Rent, lease, sell, sublicense, or otherwise transfer your rights to the app.
• Remove or alter any proprietary notices or labels on the app.
• Use the app for any commercial purpose without our prior written consent.

3. Purchases and Refunds

Safe Vault is free to download and includes core vault features at no cost. Additional premium features are available through a single, optional in-app purchase priced at $3.99 USD (or the equivalent local price shown in the Google Play Store at the time of purchase). There are no subscriptions and no recurring charges.

The premium unlock is a one-time purchase. Once purchased, premium features remain available on devices signed in with the same Google Play account that completed the purchase, subject to Google Play's purchase restoration policies.

All in-app purchases are processed entirely by Google Play. We do not receive or store your payment card or billing details. Refund requests are subject to Google Play's refund policy. We do not control or override Google Play's refund decisions.

Premium unlock prices may change for new purchases. Existing purchases are not affected by price changes.

4. Master Password and Data Recovery

You are solely responsible for:

• Remembering your master password or storing it securely elsewhere.
• Creating regular encrypted backups of your vault.
• Maintaining the security of your device.

We strongly recommend enabling the encrypted backup feature and storing backups in at least one separate location.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree to use our apps only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not infringe the rights of others. You must not use Safe Vault to store, encrypt, or conceal content that:

• Violates any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation.
• Infringes any intellectual property rights of another party.
• Is used to facilitate criminal activity.

Because of the zero-knowledge design, we have no ability to monitor or review the contents of your vault. You bear full legal responsibility for the data you choose to store.

6. Google Drive Sync

The optional Google Drive Sync feature uses your own Google account to store an encrypted backup in Google Drive's app-data folder. By using this feature, you also agree to Google's Terms of Service. We are not affiliated with Google and are not responsible for any changes to the Google Drive API or service availability.

7. Updates and Support

We may release updates to our apps from time to time. Updates may include bug fixes, security patches, or new features. Some updates may be required for continued use of the app as Google Play's requirements evolve.

We provide best-effort support via email. We are a small independent studio and cannot guarantee response times, but we read every message and aim to respond within a reasonable period.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

Our apps are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that:

• The app will be error-free or uninterrupted.
• Any defects will be corrected.
• The app is free from harmful components.

While we use industry-standard encryption, no security system is perfect. The security of your data also depends on factors outside our control, including your device security and master password strength.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Max Royen Studio and Hassan Tahir shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

• Loss of data (including vault data resulting from a forgotten master password).
• Loss of profits or revenue.
• Business interruption.
• Any other damages arising from your use or inability to use our apps.

Our total aggregate liability for any claims relating to the app shall not exceed the amount you paid for the premium unlock, or zero if you have not made a purchase.

10. Intellectual Property

Safe Vault and all associated content, design, code, trademarks, and intellectual property are owned by Hassan Tahir / Max Royen Studio. These Terms do not transfer any intellectual property rights to you beyond the limited license described in Section 2.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to terminate your license to use our apps if you materially breach these Terms. Upon termination, you must stop using the app and delete all copies from your devices.

Because Safe Vault is a locally-stored, offline-first app, termination of your license does not automatically delete your local vault data — you would need to uninstall the app manually.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to the jurisdiction in which Hassan Tahir operates, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes that cannot be resolved informally shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of that jurisdiction.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will also update the app store listing. Continued use of our apps after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
